This is a ‘file’ generated/used by W2K (NT) as ‘virtual’ memory; that part of the drive behaves as though it was RAM. When physical RAM is fully used and there is need for more, infomation/data not currently being accessed can be ’swaped’ to that location and thus free physical RAM for immediate use.
1. Go to Control Panel and run System.
2. Click on Advanced tab and click the Settings button on Performance.
3. Click on Advanced tab again and click on the Change button.
4. Select “No paging file” and click the Set button if you want to remove pagefile.sys.
